THEMED: Specific themes may vary.

The concept of 14 by 14 is simple: we hope to find and publish, every two months, fourteen good contemporary sonnets by fourteen different authors. Four centuries after Sidney and Shakespeare, the sonnet in English is alive and well, with traditionalist and modernist poets alike appreciating the seemingly inexhaustible scope of the fourteen-line form.
IMPORTANT: Check issue deadlines.

Accuracy We have received 21 reports within the past 12 months, not including 4 pending responses (with an avg. wait of 15 days). The more responses reported, the more accurate the info. Rejections are often underreported, which skews the statistics in favor of acceptances. Most markets have a lower acceptance rate than indicated here.

Before Submitting
We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close overnight. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember ...

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript.  Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines.
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
