WRONG WORLD™ stories are produced and distributed exclusively on DVD. In the tradition of classic shows like The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Outer Limits and One Step Beyond, every story includes an opening and closing narration presented by WRONG WORLD™ host Dr. Lyle Merrick. Discover an exciting new media for the world’s best writers of horror, supernatural, fantasy, paranormal, suspense, thriller and science fiction delivered right to your home. We are interested in stories that satisfy the following requirements: Original, scary short stories -- science fiction, horror, fantasy, suspense, thriller, paranormal, supernatural, any genre as long as the story is on some level scary. Stories that demonstrate the kind of well-developed character arcs found in great screenplays. Stories that "blurb" well, that naturally pitch to an audience, that invite great opening and closing audio narrations and graphics. Stories that start with a compelling hook and end on a well-engineered, satisfying twist are preferred. Stories that possess elements that educators can use – the literary basics, subjects that arouse the imagination, subjects that stimulate debate, writing styles that can be compared and contrasted, intellectually interesting topics, strong imagery, colorful vocabulary, metaphoric comparisons to today’s headline news etc.

Response Times
Show   Note: These statistics are compiled from response reports sent to us anonymously and through our submissions tracker for registered users. They are not provided by the publication's editors/staff or by Duotrope's staff.
Accuracy We have received 15 reports within the past 12 months, not including 1 pending response (waiting 4 days) and not including 1 ignored report (reports are ignored when the submitter has an unrealistic overall acceptance/rejection ratio). The more responses reported, the more accurate the info. Rejections are often underreported, which skews the statistics in favor of acceptances. Most markets have a lower acceptance rate than indicated here.

Before Submitting
We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close overnight. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember ...

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript.  Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines.
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
