About

General short fiction, mainstream, literary or genre; No more than 3,000 words. Shorter pieces are more likely to be chosen for publication. Good writing is the main criterion. No explicit sex or violence. ByLine is a monthly magazine for writers. Since its founding in 1981, ByLine has published--and paid for--the first work of hundreds of poets and writers of fiction and nonfiction. We encourage and advise novice writers; we publish the work of beginners and veterans alike.
